09.01.20 Tuesday in Baytown/Two Stories

OStory 1: On September 1 at  4:44 a.m., officers were dispatched

 to 605 Massey Tompkins (Tompkins Green Apartments)

 in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival officers learned

 that a male had suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.

 The male was initially transported to the Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital,

 however due to the severity of the injury to his leg,

 the male was subsequently airlifted to Hermann Hospital in Houston.

 During the initial investigation officers learned that the complainant

 was walking through the complex when he was shot in the leg

 by an unknown person. Detectives are investigating.

The injury is not believed to be life threatening.

2020-42540 – On September 1st at 8:11 a.m.,

officers responded to a report of a traffic accident in the

 2700 block of Ward Road. Upon arrival officers found

 a Chrysler 300 in the ditch, which appeared to have struck a culvert.

 During the course of their investigation

 officers learned that the Chrysler had been rear ended

 by a Gold Grand Marquis, which caused the Chrysler

 to go into the ditch. The Grand Marquis then went through

 a fence surrounding the yard of a residence, striking the home

 and the driver fled on foot. Officers located the driver of the Grand Marquis,

a short distance away, identified as 35 year old Joseph Gilliland of Baytown, and took

 him into custody. He was subsequently transported to the Baytown Jail where he was

 booed and charged with Felony Failure to Stop and Render Aide.

 The driver of the Chrysler, a 45 year old Baytown woman

 was transported to Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital

 to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.  .
