08.15.20 Two Stories: Shots Fired Incident and Police Chase (Update on Police Chase)

Official Press Release on Story 2 — The Police Chase

2020-39586 – On August 15th at 10:24 a.m. officers responded to a disturbance with a weapon at a residence in the 300 block of Natchez in which the suspect, the estranged husband of the complainant, had left the scene in a Chevrolet Camaro. Officers spotted the vehicle and the suspect a short time later in the area of North Burnett and attempted to conduct a stop of the vehicle, however the suspect fled from officers in the vehicle until it crashed into a fence in the 400 block of South Burnett. Upon crashing into the fence, the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot and jumped into the canal and started swimming across the canal, ultimately making to the other side near the Nature Center, where he got out of the water and fled on foot, carrying his pants in his hands. The suspect is identified as 54 year old Charles Puckett of Baytown and is currently wanted for Parole Violation/ Dangerous Drugs as well as a new charge of Felony Evading in a Motor Vehicle. Story 1:

2020-39283 – On August 13th at 1:50 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance with shots fired in the 600 block of Massey Tompkins. Upon arrival officers learned that multiple subjects had been involved in an altercation and during that altercation one of the subjects brandished a handgun and fired several rounds at the other subject, who was sitting in his vehicle, striking the vehicle several times. No one in the vehicle was injured and detectives are investigating.

Story 2: On Saturday morning,August 15, a Baytown police officer was in a car pursuit when the subject being pursued bailed from his vehicle.  The shirtless male evaded police when he jumped into a nearby channel and swam across to the other side.  Afterwards he discarded his jeans and continued to flee clad only in his boxers.  The Harris County Fox helicopter was dispatched to the scene but after an extensive search, the male was not apprehended.  Check back for the official police press release.
