Update: The identity of the female involved in this morning’s incident has been widely reported to be identified as 44 year old Pamela Turner of Baytown and there was also a lingering question of whether she was actually pregnant or not. I am now able to confirm the identity to in fact be Pamela Turner and she was not pregnant.
RESS RELEASE Lieutenant Steve Dorris Public Information Officer (281) 420-6617 steve.dorris@baytown.org Officer Involved Shooting 2019-28234 Rick Davis City Manager On Monday, May 13th at 10:41 p.m., a Baytown Police Officer was patrolling The Brixton apartment complex, located at 1601 Garth Road. The officer observed a female, whom he knew from previous encounters had outstanding warrants. The officer contacted the female and attempted to arrest her for those warrants, at which time a struggle ensued, forcing the officer to deploy his department issued Taser at the female. As the officer attempted to handcuff the female, she was able to gain control of his Taser and used it on the officer. The officer then drew his duty weapon and fired multiple rounds at the female, striking her at least once. The officer attempted to render aid to the female immediately after the incident, however despite those efforts the female succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Officer, an 11 year veteran of the Baytown Police Department, has been placed on Paid Administrative Leave, which is standard protocol when officers are involved in a critical incident such as this. Baytown Police Detectives along with Investigators from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office are currently investigating the incident.
