01.29.18 Shooting On Avenue K in Baytown Sunday Night (Update: Press Release from BPD)

Charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in Sunday Night Shooting

Update:  2018-5658 – On January 28th at 10:05 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Avenue K in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival officers located the victim, a 21 year old Baytown, man lying on the couch inside the residence with what appeared to be bullet wounds to his abdomen and above his eye. During the investigation it was learned that the victim had been at a residence on Avenue K. when he got into an altercation with another man, identified as 21 year old Ivan Hebert, also of Baytown. During that verbal altercation Mr. Hebert pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim, ultimately shooting the victim two times. The victim was able to make it out of the residence and make his way to the residence down the street where he was contacted by police. Mr. Herbert fled the scene in a vehicle but was located earlier this afternoon and arrested without incident on unrelated outstanding traffic warrants and placed in the Baytown Jail. Detectives consulted with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon were accepted on Mr. Hebert.  The victim was flown to a Houston area hospital to be treated for his injuries and at last report his injuries were not believed to be life threatening, however he remains hospitalized.

Baytown police, EMS and Fire and Rescue responded to the scene of a shooting on Avenue K in Baytown on Sunday night.  A male was shot shortly after 10 pm and later airlifted to a Houston hospital.  Check back for the official Baytown police press release
