04.26.21 Two Stories: Emergency 911 Call and Tragedy on Hillhurst (Update Below 04.29.21)

UPDATE: Concerning the two-year-old in Story 2 – update from Asst. Police Chief Eric Freed: “She passed away on Tuesday around 2 pm.”

Story 1: Well in this story, we see emergency 911 calls are not always as reported. This occurred on Saturday night, April 24th around 9:20 pm.   This is the call and this is the official Baytown Police press release.  Regarding the incident on Massey Tompkins, the adult victim was poked with a fork after she would not leave her grandmother’s residence.  The two have had several arguments over the last two days.  The victim was not injured and no charges were filed.

Story 2:
A 2-year-old girl is in critical condition at a Houston hospital after she drowned in a backyard pool in the 500 block of Hillhurst Dr on Sunday about 3:42 p.m.  The victim and her 28-year-old mother were visiting a family member who had an unkept, inground swimming pool in the backyard.  Family members were talking in the backyard when the mother realized she had not seen the victim in several minutes.  A 3-year-old family member told the mother the victim was in the pool.  The mother jumped into the pool but was unable to locate the victim due to the murky water.  The victim’s 28-year-old uncle located and retrieved her from the pool, carrying her to the front yard to meet first responders.  Baytown Police Officers Natalie Robinson and Heather Shedd began CPR on the victim prior to paramedics arriving.  The victim was transported by ambulance to Baytown Airport, a satellite base for Life Flight, where she was transferred to an awaiting flight crew and flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital.   This incident is being investigated by detectives and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
