09.27.20 Murder Suspect Wanted

Case 2020-47078 On September 26, 2020 at 8:42 pm., Baytown police officers were dispatched to several calls of shots fired in the 5400 Block of Hazel Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of (18) year old Davin Chatman who had been shot several times. Baytown EMS (emergency medical services) pronounced Chatman deceased due to the injuries he sustained from the gunfire. During the investigation, Baytown Homicide Detectives learned the defendant identified as (18) year old Keshawn Elam of Baytown and his friend, Davin Chatman were involved in a verbal argument which resulted in the shooting death of Chatman that occurred just outside of a residence in the 5400 block of Hazel Street. After the shooting, Mr. Elam drove off in Chatman’s black 2014 Nissan four door which since then has been recovered unoccupied by the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office near College Station. Charges of Murder have been filed through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office on Elam. The whereabouts of Elam are unknown at this time and the Baytown Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance with any information on Elam which could lead to his arrest. The Baytown Police Department is committed to the safety of its citizens and will not tolerate this type of crime against members of our community.
