Official Baytown Police Press Release: 2020-29437 – On June 14th at 4:21 a.m., officers responded to a disturbance at the Watermark Apartments located in the 2700 block of Ward. Upon arrival officers contacted the complainant and learned that her ex-boyfriend had showed up unannounced at her apartment and appeared intoxicated. While at the apartment the two got into a verbal altercation which resulted in the ex-boyfriend pulling a gun on the complainant and grabbing the complainant around the neck. The complainant struck the suspect in the groin and was able to escape the apartment and as she fled the apartment the suspect fired two rounds from his handgun. The complainant’s two small children were left in the apartment, however the complainant was ultimately able to contact them by phone and they were able to safely get out of the apartment. Believing the suspect was still inside the apartment and armed, officers attempted several times to call him out of the apartment to no avail. Baytown SWAT and Negotiators were called to the scene and after multiple unsuccessful attempts to have the suspect exit the apartment, SWAT made entry into the apartment to find the suspect was no longer inside.  Charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon are pending on the suspect.
