04.09.20 Two Stories/Armed Robbery and Hot Pursuit

2020-18444 – On April 8th at 12:31 a.m., officers responded to a report of a Robbery at the Buc-ee’s located in the 4000 block of Interstate 10. Upon arrival officers learned that two males, one black male and one possibly Hispanic male, entered the store brandishing handguns and demanded the money from the registers. The Hispanic male was wearing a white protective mask over his face while the black male had a blue bandana covering his. The two males fled the store and got into a silver BMW and fled the area. Detectives are investigating.  

2020-18450 – On April 7th officers were in the area of Thompson Road when they observed a Dodge Journey fail to stop at a stop sign. The Journey appeared to be being followed by a GMC pickup that was towing a welding machine that was on a trailer, which officers believed could be stolen. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of both vehicles, however both vehicle failed to stop and instead accelerated in an attempt to elude the officers.  As officers pursued the two vehicles, the GMC continued north bound on Thompson while the Journey pulled into the Exxon located at the intersection of Thompson and Wallisville, where  officers contacted and detained the occupants. The GMC would continue north on Thompson and eventually turn onto East Houston, where the driver jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. the truck continued to roll, unoccupied, and eventually came to rest in the ditch and struck a tree. The driver, would be apprehended a short time later by K-9 Units and taken into custody. It determined that the GMC was in fact stolen out of Montgomery County and the welding machine was stolen out of Harris County. The occupants of the Journey were identified as 19 year old Mario Robles of Houston(driver) and an 18 year old passenger, also of Houston, while the driver of the GMC was identified as 17 year old Juan Nunez of Houston. All subjects were transported to the Baytown Jail where Robles was charged with felony Evading in n a Motor vehicle and Nunez was charged with Felony Evading in a Motor Vehicle and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. Mug shots attached. The passenger of the Journey was released without charges at this time.
