Update – Body discovered near Atkinson Island.
Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that detectives with the Chamber County Sheriff’s Office have identified the body that was discovered earlier today by duck hunters just off Atkinson Island near the Houston Ship Channel. Detective Brad Moon, working with Harris County Constables Office, has confirmed the identity of Tamara Rivera, 23, of Baytown, Texas. Ms. Rivera had been reported missing by her mother to the Harris County Constables Office on Thursday night, November 7th. Her last known location was in the area of the Fred Hartman Bridge over the Houston Ship Channel.
Positive identity was established by her family. “We will know more after we get preliminary results from the medical examiner’s office, but this is still an active and open investigation”, said Sheriff Hawthorne.
