10.26.19 Three Arrested in Drug Raid

2019-61800 Three arrested during early morning drug raid On Thursday, October 24th Detectives from the Baytown Police Department’s Special Operations Unit, with the assistance of Baytown Police SWAT, executed a narcotics search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of East Hunnicutt. The warrant was a culmination of a 2-month long investigation by Special Operations Detectives into the sale and distribution of various types of narcotics from the residence. During the investigation, Detectives identified two males, 21-year-old Giovanni Teniente and 22- year-old Gilberto Diaz, both of Baytown, as being involved in the narcotics trafficking. Detectives also learned the suspects were trafficking in various types of narcotics including marijuana, synthetic cannabinoids aka “Kush”, methamphetamine, ecstasy, heroin, codeine and various types of prescription pills as well as prostitution, a literal one-stop shop. As a result of the investigation and subsequent search warrant, Detectives arrested both Mr. Teniente and Mr. Diaz at the residence along with 35-year-old Laurinda Canady of Highlands. During a search of the residence, Detectives located a plethora of narcotics including; approximately a pound of methamphetamine, an ounce of crack cocaine, a quarter of an ounce of powder cocaine, an ounce of ecstasy (122 tablets), a pound of marijuana, 4 pounds of Kush, 2 ounces of liquid THC, a quarter of an ounce of heroin, 8 ounces of promethazine and nearly 80 grams of hydrocodone and Xanax. Detectives also located two firearms in the residence, an AR 15 and a stolen .40 caliber handgun along with over $10,000.00 in drug proceeds. Mr. Teniente and Mr. Diaz are each charged through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, while Ms. Canady was arrested and booked on an outstanding warrant out of Harris County for Possession of a Controlled Substance, which stemmed from an unrelated case.
