22019-37019 – On June 23rd at 9:57 p.m., officers responded to a major hit and run accident in the 3500 block of Interstate 10. Upon arrival officers learned from witnesses that the victim, a 56 year old Dayton woman, had been walking on the side of the road when she was struck by a white Ford F-250 and subsequently flown to Hermann Hospital with severe head injuries and unresponsive. According to witnesses the truck fled the scene and was last seen pulling into the Buc-ee’s located at John Martin and Interstate 10. From video surveillance officers were able to identify the truck, which had some unique stickers on the back window and an orange toolbox in the bed, pulling into the Buc-ee’s. Still photos of the truck were immediately disseminated to our officers in the hopes that someone would recognize the suspect and/or the truck. A short time later one of our offices did in fact recognized the stickers on the back window as being associated with a Houston area off road group. Officers were then able to locate a FB page for the group and find a picture of the suspected truck along with a license plate and a subject matching the description of the suspect that had gotten out of the truck at Buc-ee’s. From that, officers were able to come up with a name and DL photo of the suspect as well an address. Officers then traveled to the residence associated with the suspect and the license plate, where they located the truck and the suspect, who is identified as 47 year old Robert Henderson of Highlands. Robert was subsequently placed under arrest and he and his vehicle were taken to the Baytown Police Department where Robert was booked into the Baytown Jail and charged with Felony Failure to Stop and Render Aid.
