Update/Official Baytown Police Press Release:  2018-69954 – On Thursday, December 6th at approximately 8:30 a.m., police responded to the 3500 block of Crosby Cedar Bayou in reference to a stabbing.  The witness said the 26 year-old victim was being treated by EMS in a different apartment.  The officers made contact with the female victim who stated she was stabbed several times by her father-in-law, Ambrosio Mercedes and he was still in her apartment.  The officers entered the apartment and gave Mercedes several commands, in English and Spanish, to come out of the back room with his hands up.  Movement was heard in the room but Mercedes still refused to come out.  After additional commands were given, Mercedes finally opened the door and walked out of the room, appearing dazed and confused.  Officers arrested Mercedes without further incident and later learned that he had consumed a bottle of bleach and had some self-inflicted cuts on his body.  Both victim and subject were taken to the hospital for treatment.  The Harris County District Attorney’s office was called and a charge of First Degree Aggravated Assault/SBI on a Family Member was accepted on Mercedes.
