04.12.18 Major Accident on N. Alexander Drive Wednesday Night (Update: Official BPD Press Release)

2018-21451 – On April 11th at 8:49 p.m., officers responded to a report of a major accident at the intersection of North Alexander and East Fayle. Upon arrival officers found it involved three cars, a Chrysler 300, driven by 29 year old Germain Olivares, a  Chevrolet Impala and a Acura TL. During the investigation it was determined that Mr. Olivares was traveling south on North Alexander in the Chrysler 300 when he ran the red light at the intersection of East Fayle. Mr. Olivares’ vehicle struck the Acura, which was stopped at the red light in the south bound lanes of North Alexander, with its side mirror before running the red light and striking the Impala, which was traveling east on Fayle crossing Alexander. Mr. Olivares’ vehicle then struck a light pole, where it came to a rest. As officers were talking with Mr. Olivares they noted that he displayed signs of intoxication and also found what appeared to be marijuana on the ground next to Mr. Olivares’ vehicle as well as inside his vehicle. Mr. Olivares was transported to Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital to be treated for abrasions to his head and where he submitted to a blood draw to determine his level and type of intoxication. The occupants of the Impala were both transported to Memorial Herman to be treated for their injuries and at last report were in stable condition. Charges of Intoxicated Assault were accepted on Mr. Olivares by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, however due to his injury and the fact he was being treated at the hospital, a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
