02.25.18 Stabbing on Michigan Street Saturday Night

2018- 11235 – On February, 24th at 11:14 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 3300 block of Michigan in reference to a fight in progress. Upon arrival officers contacted the complainant who advised she had been assaulted earlier in the evening buy her ex-boyfriend, identified as Caleb Liepold of Baytown. Officers also learned there was an active protective order against Mr. Liepold, prohibiting him from having contact with the complainant. The complainant advised she had a friend, identified as Jose Garcia of Baytown, to stay at her residence with her as she was concerned Mr. Liepold may return. At some point the complainant spoke with Mr. Liepold and allowed him to stop by the residence to pick up some of his belongings. When he arrived the complainant met with him outside where he assaulted her again. The complainant then went back inside her residence, followed shortly after by Mr. Liepold, who once inside created a disturbance before returning outside. Mr. Garcia then went outside to confront Mr. Liepold, taking a pair of Nunchakus with him. Once outside Mr. Garcia reportedly confronted Mr. Liepold and a physical altercation ensued. During that altercation Mr. Garcia allegedly struck Mr. Liepold with the Nunchakus which prompted Mr. Liepold to produce a knife and stab and cut Mr. Garcia several times in the back of the head, the arm and his hand. Mr. Garcia was subsequently flown to a Houston area hospital to be treated for his injuries. Officers contacted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and advised them of the facts of the case at which time charges were accepted on Mr. Liepold for Assault Family – Violence as well as Violation of a Protective Order. It was also determined the charges would be accepted on Mr. Garcia for Aggravated Assault for his assault on Mr. Liepold. Mr. Liepold was transported to the Baytown Jail where he was booked on the aforementioned charges while a warrant will be filed for Mr. Garcia’s arrest once he is released from the hospital. At last report Mr. Garcia was said to be in stable condition.
