12.19.17 Two Major Accidents in Baytown This Evening (Update Added)

2017-72284 – On December 19th at 3:46 p.m., officers responded to a major accident in the 6300 block of North State Highway 146 involving multiple vehicles. During the course of the investigation officers found that a Dodge Caravan was traveling south bound on Hwy 146 when it veered into the North Bound lanes where it struck the front left corner an 18 wheeler which was traveling north on 146. The Caravan spun, causing it to strike another vehicle, a Suburban, that had stopped in the center turn lane. The driver of the Caravan, a 20 year old man from Floydada Texas, was transported via Life Flight to Herman Hospital in Houston to be treated for his injuries. His condition is unknown at this time. No other injuries were reported. The crash is still under investigation.

2017- 72287 – On December 19th at 4:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Hwy 146 and West Texas Avenue in reference to a major accident. During the ensuing investigation officers learned that two vehicles, a Ford Pickup Truck and a Toyota Yaris were traveling south on 146 coming off of the Spur 330 flyover. One vehicle was in the far outside lane and one was in the far inside lane. At one point the two vehicles attempted to change into the center lane at the same time. Both vehicles reportedly swerved back into their respective lanes at which time the Toyota struck the concrete divider which caused the Toyota to lose control and roll several times. None of the injuries sustained by the occupants of the Toyota appeared to be life threatening however their exact condition is unknown at this time. The accident is still under investigation.
Two major accidents occurred in Baytown on Tuesday evening. The first was on South State highway 146 near Tanglewood Subdivision. In this accident a tanker and a vehicle were involved in a head-on collision. In the second accident in this video, a young female flipped her vehicle five times on Highway 146 near West Texas Avenue. Check back for the official Baytown Police press releases.
