Shortly after 9.m. Tuesday morning, a home in Highlands Crossing in Highlands, Texas, was burglarized. A retired Baytown police officer was contacted by the resident. The officer followed the suspects and the situation progressed into a physical altercation which led to shots fired. Two men were airlifted to a Houston hospital in critical condition. One was the retired police officer. This report is based on information gathered at the scene.
