03.18.17 Official BPD Press Release Concerning Stabbing Early Saturday

2017-16452 – On March 18th at 7:00 a.m., officers responded to a stabbing in the 3300 block of Illinois. Upon arrival officers located the victim, a 29 year old Baytown woman, at the corner of Illinois and Colorado Street, being given first aid by a friend. During the course of the investigation officers learned the victim had gotten into a fight in the middle of Colorado Street with another female, who was identified by the friend of the victim as 25 year old Jessica Chavez. Officers were told that Jessica and her boyfriend, 25 year old Jacob Gonzalez, who was also present during the stabbing, lived at a residence in the 3300 block of Illinois. Officers went to the address they were given in an attempt to contact Jessica and Jacob. Upon arrival at the residence officers contacted Jacob and another female, identified as 42 year old Isniel Cantu. While speaking with Jacob and Isniel they told officers that Jessica was not at the residence, however a search of the residence resulted in Jessica being located in one of the bedrooms, suffering from a cut to the hand, which is believed to have occurred as she was stabbing the victim. Jessica was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries before being transported to the Baytown Jail where she was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Jacob and Isniel were also placed under arrest and transported to the Baytown Jail where they were charged with Interfering with Public Duties. The victim is expected to survive her injuries.
