09.03.16 SWAT Standoff on Nolan Road

Subject surrenders to Baytown Police after barricading himself inside his apartment

At 2: 18 p.m. Baytown Police responded to a 911 call of a person with a weapon at an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Nolan Road. Upon arrival officers determined the 911 call was a result of a disturbance inside an apartment between a woman and her husband. The husband, a 33 year old Baytown man, brandished a weapon at responding officers after barricading himself inside the apartment, however responding patrol officers were able to safely remove the wife and four children from the apartment. The Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) along with the Crisis Negotiation Team from the Baytown Police Department responded to the scene, at which time communications were established with the husband. During the negotiations, negotiators were able to successfully persuade the husband to come out of the apartment and surrender to SWAT officers without incident, bringing the standoff to a safe and successful end. The husband was later transported to a hospital for psychological evaluation. No charges have been filed on the husband at this time and this incident is still being investigated.
