“We truly believe this is going to be one of the finest facilities in the region, if
not in the state of Texas” said Mayor Stephen DonCarlos, at the January 27,
2009, groundbreaking ceremony for Pirates Bay Family Aquatic Center.
Members of the Baytown City Council and other special guests attended the
special event.
The Center is scheduled to open in May 2010. Mayor DonCarlos said
the entire project will be built in one phase.
The new Aquatic Center will host a lap pool, tube slides, a pirate ship
for the kids, large water slides and much more. The Center will be available
for picnics, birthday celebrations, and just good-old wholesome family
entertainment and fun.
Mayor DonCarlos said the Pirates Bay Aquatic Center will be marketed along
with Baytown’s softball facilities in hopes of attracting tournaments from
across the state.
