04.18.22 Official BPD Press Release Regarding Motorcycle Crash/Three Lives Claimed

On Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 1632 hours,  Baytown Police were called to major crash in the 3700 block of North State Hwy 146. Officers arrived and found that a Bobby Thompson, 24 of Groveton, Texas was deceased after being struck on his 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle by a 2020 Nissan Sentra being driven by Keith Harrison, 19 of Crosby. Thompson along with other family members were traveling North on North State Hwy 146 back to East Texas from Galveston. They were all operating their motorcycles in the center lane of a three (3) lane roadway. Harrison was traveling Northbound in the outside lane passing the group of motorcycles and their riders. During the attempt to pass, the Nissan left the outside lane and struck the motorcycle being driven by Bobby Thompson. Thompson’s wife Christina Thompson, 23 of Groveton was also riding on the motorcycle with Bobby, and was also injured and transported to Herman Memorial Hospital. She and their unborn child of four months, later succumbed to their injuries from the crash. During the initial collision by the 2020 Nissan, Bobby’s motorcycle was projected into the travel path of family member Kolton Thompson, 26 of Groveton and his passenger Cheyenne Mitchamore, 19 of Hemphill, Tx on their 2003 Yamaha Motorcycle. They also crashed as the result of the initial collision and were transported by ambulance to a local hospital and were considered in stable condition upon being transported. Baytown Traffic Management Teams collision reconstructionist were call to the scene and this case is still under investigation. Sgt. John Butler #31
