2020-51878 – On October 23rd at 12:36 p.m., officers responded to a report of a major accident in the 3300 block of Spur 330. Upon arrival officers found a Tan SUV has crashed into a parked flatbed 18-wheeler trailer, which also had another trailer stacked on top of it. During the preliminary investigation officers learned that the SUV was traveling north on the main lanes of Spur 330, at what has been described as a high rate of speed. For reasons not yet determined, the SUV veered off the roadway, crossed the grass median, then crossed the two-lane feeder road before crashing through a chain link fence and striking the parked 18-wheeler trailers, which were parked in the parking lot of a business. As a result of the crash the male driver, and sole occupant of the SUV, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Baytown Police Accident Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the crash and the identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
