09.19.18 Two Stories: Pedestrian Dies at Scene and Accident Involving Three Vehicles (See Press Release Update)

Regarding pedestrian fatality on I-10 Wednesday night–Sgt. Richard Standifer/Texas Department of Public Safety said:
Around 7:55 pm on Wednesday night, September 19, 40-year-old Eva Castillo (a hispanic female) was cycling on the frontage road near the 801 marker on I-10 in Chambers County. This marker is located near FM 3180. Eva was struck by a vehicle driven by a white male whose name has not been released. Eva’s bicycle was fitted with a red flashing light that was operating. As of the posting of this story, the driver of the vehicle has not been charged, but Sgt. Standifer says he will most likely be charged with criminal negligent homicide.

Tonight, an auto pedestrian accident occurred on the southbound feeder road of I-10 East in Chambers County.  The pedestrian died at the scene.  No other details are available.

Also tonight, an accident involving three vehicles occurred on I-10 near Thompson Road.  According to information gathered at the scene, the driver of the blue car ran the red light at Thompson and hit the SUV.  This caused the SUV to hit the red car.  The driver of the blue car fled the scene of the accident on foot.  He was quickly apprehended by police.  No serious injuries were sustained.
