02.13.18 Gunfire Erupts, Party Goers Run for Safety

2018-8349 – On February 10th officers responded to the 600 block of Harold in reference to reports of shots fired and people screaming in the roadway. Upon arrival officers learned that there had been a party at a residence in the 700 block of Harold.  During that party several people began walking down the road, apparently to go home. While doing so a vehicle pulled up and a Hispanic male exited the vehicle and confronted one of the people walking, a juvenile female. The male, later identified as 18 year old Oscar Nevares-Vasquez and believed to be the boyfriend of the female juvenile, grabbed the female and physically assaulted her before trying to force her into the vehicle. Several other male party goers observed this taking place and ran to the vehicle to intervene at which time the male suspect displayed a handgun and fired multiple shots, which fortunately did not strike anyone. One of the male party goers then also displayed a handgun and fired several rounds at the car, striking it multiple times as it fled the scene, again fortunately no one was struck. During this time the female was able to escape Oscar’s grasp and run from the car. Officers presented the facts of the case to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and charges were accepted on Oscar for Injury to a Child under 15. A warrant has been filed for Oscar’s arrest however he is not in custody at this time. No photo available at this time
