Baytown Police make arrests in first homicide of 2018
Update 1-12-18
On Thursday January 11th Baytown Police Homicide Detectives,
with the assistance of Investigators from the Texas Department of
Public Safety, located the two persons of interest in the murder
investigation of 65 year old John Fernandez. Those two people, 36
year old Marcus Donnell Gilbert and 34 year old Alicia Marie
Keator, both of Baytown, were subsequently brought to the Baytown
Police Department for questioning.
Homicide Detectives conducted interviews with the two late into
the night and throughout this morning. Based on those interviews,
along with other evidence gathered during the investigation, both
Marcus Gilbert and Alicia Keator will be charged with Capital
Murder through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office for
their roles in the death of Mr. Fernandez, which appears to have
been a result of a dispute between the victim and the two
defendants. Both defendants are currently being held in the
Baytown Jail awaiting transfer to the Harris County Jail.
