12.29.17 Auto Thief Apprehended Quickly

2017-73641 – On December 27th at 7:42 a.m., officers responded to an auto theft at the Shop and Go located in the 3100 block of Wisconsin. While enroute officers learned a witness, who actually observed the auto theft, was following the vehicle and was able to provide police with current information as to direction of travel of the stolen vehicle. As the stolen vehicle pulled into the McDonalds located in the 1700 block of Decker officers converged on the suspect vehicle and were able to take the suspect into custody without incident. The suspect was identified as 34 year old Marcus Henderson of Anahuac. Mr. Henderson was transported to the Baytown Jail where he was booked on charges of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. During the booking process a credit card belonging to the complainant was located in Mr. Henderson’s pocket. This card was returned to the complainant before Mr. Henderson was able to use it. Further investigation determined that the complainant had stopped at the store on the way home from work and had left the car running while she went inside, which explained why the suspect had the keys to the car. Mug shot attached.
