OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: 2017-68192 – On November 26th at 6:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Village Lane Apartments in reference to a disturbance involving a weapon. Upon arrival officers learned that the complainant who advised he had allowed the suspect, only known as Javon, a black male approximately 15 years of age, to stay with him. The complainant, who was having problems with Javon, advised Javon he needed to leave but Javon refused, which led to a verbal, then physical altercation. At one point Javon pulled a knife on the complainant and during a struggle over the knife the complainant suffered minor cuts to his hand. The complainant attempted to leave to defuse the situation, however Javon continued to try to escalate the situation and entice the complainant to fight him. The complainant was able to make it to his vehicle and exit the parking lot before stopping on the roadway to wait for police. A short time later an Escalade drove by and Javon threw an object at the complainants vehicle and at the same time several black males exited the vehicle, one of them brandishing a weapon, and fired several rounds in the direction of the complainant.
