2017-55678 – On September 24th at 12:10 a.m.,

officers were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Lakewood

regarding a person with a weapon. Upon arrival in the area

officers learned from the dispatch that the suspect,

identified as 36 year old Rodney Price of Baytown,

had left his residence in a Silver Ford F-150 pickup truck.

While searching for the truck officers also made contact with the complainant,

who advised her husband had been drinking and also

had a firearm with him. A short time later officers located the vehicle

traveling on Burnett Drive and attempted to conduct a traffic stop

on the vehicle which ultimately came to a stop in the area of Burnett and Mayhaw.

Once the vehicle was stopped, Mr. Price refused to follow the commands

of the officers, who were conducting a high risk stop of the vehicle.

Mr. Price refused to exit the vehicle, resulting in a standoff with officers

which lasted nearly two hours. During that two hour period

officers attempted to negotiate with Mr. Price to have him surrender,

Baytown SWAT was also called to the scene due to the fact that Mr. Price

had a weapon, was refusing to comply with officers and the fact tha

he was reportedly upset and had made threats to harm himself or others.

During the course of the negotiations officers were able to convince Mr. Price

to surrender and he exited the vehicle and was taken into custody

with no further incident. Mr. Price was transported to the Baytown Jail

where he was booked and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and

Interfering with Public Duties through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
