07.20.17 Two Stories/Chambers County/Drive By Shooting and Illegal Gambling Arrest

Two Stories from Chambers County Sheriff” Office..

In our first story, around 3 am this morning, Thursday, July 20, 2017, a drive by shooting occurred off Highway 61 in Chambers County. Both victims, one male and one female, were transported by private vehicle to the Wayside Clinic in Anahuac for treatment.

This incident is currently being investigated by Chambers County sheriff’ Office.
According to Sheriff Brian C. Hawthrone, the male was shot in the chest and the 17-year-old pregnant female was shot in the leg. The shots were fired from a vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 61 towards I-10. The victims were shot in front of their house. Both victims are in stable condition.

Sheriff Brian C. Hawthorne reports that on July 19 at approximately 9:15 a.m. the Chambers County Covert Investigation Unit and Patrol Division executed search warrants for illegal gambling operations at two different locations in Winnie, Texas. The warrants were run simultaneously at Bingo Truck Stop in the 46000 block of I-10, and Jack’s Grocery in the 2800 block of Highway 124 in Winnie. Several gambling machines along with over $7,000 was seized during the raid. Charges are pending against the managers of both locations.
Chase Collins, 36 of College Station, Texas, was arrested in the parking lot during the raid at Jack’s Grocery for possession of methamphetamine and was transported to the Chambers County Jail currently being held on a $10,000 bond for possession of a controlled substance.
