07.05.17 Two Stories: Man Arrested on Burglary Charge and Robbery on Monday, July 3, 2017

2017-39047 – On July 3rd at 7:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the
San Jacinto Hospital, located in the 4400 block of Gath Road, in reference
to an auto theft in progress. Upon arrival officers learned that the complainant
had been at the hospital and upon exiting the hospital and walking to his vehicle,
he noticed someone was inside his vehicle. The complainant approached his
vehicle and confronted the suspect, identified
as 58 year old James Hunter of Smith Point, and asked what he was doing in his car.
Mr. Hunter claimed to be working on the car. At this point the complainant pulled
his knife and held Mr. Hunter at knife point until police arrived, who he had already
called before making contact with Mr. Hunter. Officers took Mr. Hunter into custody
and contacted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office who accepted charges on
Mr. Hunter for Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. Mr. Hunter was transported to the Baytown Jail
where he was booked on those charges.

2017-39115 – On July 3rd at 10:36 p.m., officers were dispatched to Sam’s Express convenience store,
located in the 8300 block of North State Highway 146, in reference to a robbery. Upon arrival
officers contacted the complainant, a store employee, who advised that a black male described as
approximately 5″8 tall and 220 pounds, wearing a black hat entered the store and asked for
two packs of cigarettes. At the same time the suspect lifted his shirt, exposing a black handgun
in his waistband, and demanded all the money from the register. The complainant complied and
the suspect then left the store. The suspect was believed to have left in a white pickup.
. Detectives are investigating.
