06.05.17 Official BPD Press Release Concerning Motorcycle Fatality on Friday

2017-33070 – On June 2nd at 6:49 p. m., officers were dispatched to a major accident in the 1000 block of Bob Smith Rod. Upon arrival on the scene officers observed a motorcycle, a green 2000 Kawasaki, in the roadway that appeared to have collided with pickup truck, a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. As officers began conducting their investigation they learned that operator of the motorcycle, identified as 44 year old Jermaine Williams of Baytown, had been pronounced deceased by Baytown Fire/EMS. The preliminary investigation indicated the motorcycle was traveling west on Bob Smith and the pickup was traveling east. The pickup was turning into driveway when it was struck by the motorcycle. Baytown Accident Reconstruction Team was called to the scene and will be reconstructing and investigating the accident. The driver of the truck is cooperating with the investigation and as such voluntarily submitted to a blood draw to determine if alcohol was a factor, which is normal procedure in accidents involving death. There have been no charges filed as of yet as the investigation is ongoing. Investigators will wait until they have all the results from the reconstruction and any lab results before presenting the case to the District Attorney’s Office for any potential charges.
