9.23.2016 Update: Shooting on Jack Street

On September 23rd at 12:18 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 200 block of West Jack. Upon arrival, officers found 31 year old Richard Simmons of Baytown, shot at least one time and being treated by emergency medical personnel. The victim was transported to Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

During the investigation detectives learned that the victim was walking in the 200 block of West Jack when a tan passenger car pulled up and the passenger of the vehicle exited and confronted the victim. At this time a physical altercation ensued, during which, the victim was shot. The suspect then fled the scene in the tan car.

As the investigation was unfolding, 45 year old Wayne Serieux, walked into the lobby of the Baytown Police Department and surrendered to detectives and admitted to the shooting. The motive for the shooting is unclear at this time. Mr. Serieux is currently in custody in the Baytown Municipal Jail and Murder charges are pending.
