e (2) entrapment1

On August 21st at 4:09 am, officers were dispatched to a major accident on Bush Road at Stonehedge Drive with at least one person trapped inside a burning vehicle. Several officers responded to the scene, including an off duty officer who was working an extra job nearby. As officers arrived on scene they found one of the vehicles, a maroon Pontiac 4 door sedan, had sustained extensive front end damage with fire coming from the engine compartment. Officers also found the driver was trapped in the driver seat with his legs pinned, preventing him from escaping the burning vehicle. Officers, along with several courageous citizens, took quick action and without regard for their personal safety began deploying their fire extinguishers and using bottled water in an effort to extinguish the fire while also trying to keep the conscious and alert driver calm. Once the fire was extinguished fire personnel were able to safely extract the driver from the vehicle. During the investigation of the accident it was determined that the second vehicle involved, a gray 2015 Ford F-150, had been stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Stonehedge Drive and Bush Road, while the Pontiac sedan was traveling southbound on Bush Road. The driver of the F-150 attempted to turn north onto Bush Road from Stonehedge Drive, pulling into the path of the Pontiac, causing the Pontiac to strike the F-150 on the diver side. The driver of the F-150, a 29 year old Channelview man, refused medical treatment and was cited for failure to yield right of way from a stop sign and was released from the scene. The driver of the Pontiac, a 26 year old Baytown man, was flown to a Houston hospital to be treated for his injuries and at last report was in stable condition
